Waste to Hydrogen: Elaboration of Hydroreactive Materials from Magnesium-Aluminum Scrap
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ball-milled hydroreactive powders of Mg-Al scrap with 20 wt.% additive (Wood’s alloy, KCl, and their mixture) no additives were manufactured. Their hydrogen yields reaction rates in a 3.5 NaCl aqueous solution at 15–35 °C compared. In the beginning reaction, samples KCl (20 wt.%) Wood’s alloy (10 provided highest second-highest rates, respectively. However, after 4 h correspondingly lowest second-lowest percentages—(45.6 ± 4.4)% (56.0 1.2)% 35 °C. At same temperature, demonstrated (73.5 10.0)% (70.6 2.5)%, correspondingly, while respective maximum second-lowest. The variations kinetics for can be explained by difference particle sizes (apparently affecting specific surface area), crystal lattice defects accumulated during ball milling, favoring pitting corrosion, morphology solid product covering particles, contradicting effects from potential formation reaction-enhancing microgalvanic cells intended to induce anodic dissolution Mg conductive media reaction-hindering crystal-grain-screening compounds metal components.

Bio-hydrogen production from waste materials
Hydrogen is a valuable gas as a clean energy source and as feedstock for some industries. Therefore, demand on hydrogen production has increased considerably in recent years. Electrolysis of water, steam reforming of hydrocarbons and auto-thermal processes are well-known methods for hydrogen gas production, but not cost-effective due to high energy requirements. Biological production of hydroge...
متن کاملMagnesium Borohydride: From Hydrogen Storage to Magnesium Battery**
Beyond hydrogen storage: The first example of reversible magnesium deposition/stripping onto/from an inorganic salt was seen for a magnesium borohydride electrolyte. High coulombic efficiency of up to 94 % was achieved in dimethoxyethane solvent. This Mg(BH(4))(2) electrolyte was utilized in a rechargeable magnesium battery.
متن کاملScrap prices, waste and recycling policy
This study examines the effect of waste and recycling policy on scrap prices and the importance of scrap price feedbacks as a determinate of the costs of waste and recycling policy. The effects of a deposit/refund, advance disposal fee, and recycling subsidies on scrap prices are derived, and the direct and indirect channels of waste reduction are decomposed for the three instruments. Scrap pri...
متن کاملBimetal friction stir welding of aluminum to magnesium
FSW material flow and phase transformation were studied at the interface of dissimilar welding of Al 6013 to Mg. Defect free butt weld was obtained when aluminum and magnesium test plates were placed in the advancing side and retreating side respectively, and the tool was placed 1 mm off the weld centerline into the aluminum side. In order to understand how the materials flow during FSW, steel ...
